Ingredients: what's really in the cup
Bonjour Adults and Bonjour Kids share the same high standards, but not the same formula. Adults and children have different needs, so we built two different recipes.

Bonjour Adults: 2,700 mg of extracts in every cup

For Lion's Mane and Chaga, we use the fruiting bodies. For Cordyceps, a targeted extraction isolates the compounds of interest. The extracts are concentrated in France by our partner laboratory, which has specialised in food supplements for more than 20 years.
On flavours: Bonjour Adults comes in 7 flavours: Original, Coffee, Decaf Coffee, Cacao, Choco Hazelnut, Rooibos Chai and Chamomile. Original and Coffee contain 35 mg of caffeine per cup, which is 4 to 5 times less than a coffee. The other 5 flavours contain none. All our recipes are vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free and sugar-free, with no additives or preservatives.
Bonjour Kids: the hot chocolate with 8 essential nutrients added and the sugar taken out
Bonjour Kids isn't a scaled-down version of Bonjour Adults. It's a formula designed for children aged 3 and over, with no mushrooms, no caffeine and no sugars.

The science, minus the hype
What a food supplement can claim is strictly regulated. We stick to that framework.
Proven or just hype?
Let's start with what's established. The roles of our vitamins and minerals appear on the register of authorised nutrition and health claims (Regulation (EU) No 432/2012). They were assessed by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) on the basis of the available scientific studies.
A claim can only be made if the daily amount provides at least 15% of the Nutrient Reference Value. That is the case for each of our vitamins and minerals, at between 20% and 200% depending on the nutrient.

Mushrooms and plants: the studies, open to everyone
For plant and mushroom extracts, the European Commission has not yet completed its assessment: their claims are described as “on hold”. That applies to the whole market, not just to us. In the meantime, we have gathered the scientific studies carried out on each of the ingredients we use, and we are making them available to you.
These ingredients are far from new: ginseng, cordyceps and lion's mane have been consumed for centuries in Asia, chaga in the Nordic countries, and mallow is part of European tradition. A long tradition of use, which scientific research continues to study.

The raw materials
Every ingredient comes from a carefully chosen origin: Lion's Mane and mallow from France, chaga from Finland, cordyceps and ginseng from Asia, and organic cocoa from the Dominican Republic, an origin known for its low cadmium levels. The vitamins and minerals are of natural origin: vitamin D3 from boreal lichen, K2 from natto, zinc from guava, selenium from yeast.

For Lion's Mane and Chaga, we use the fruiting bodies. For Cordyceps, a targeted extraction isolates the compounds of interest. Our partner laboratory, which has specialised in food supplements for more than 20 years, turns these raw materials into concentrated extracts in France.

Dosing and blending
In the Pays de la Loire region, each ingredient is weighed according to the recipe developed with the laboratory: 2,700 mg of plant and mushroom extracts per cup and 6 vitamins and minerals. They are then blended with the ingredients of each flavour.

On the same site, the blend is packed into a resealable pouch. Each bag carries a batch number, which links it to its analyses.

Is Bonjour loading you up with cadmium?
The first thing to know: cadmium is above all a cocoa question. The more cocoa a recipe contains, the higher its level. Our Coffee flavour shows only traces, and all our flavours stay below the EU legal limit.
Rigorous checks: every batch goes through an independent laboratory
Our batches are regularly analysed by Phytocontrol, an independent French laboratory accredited by COFRAC. It tests for pesticides, heavy metals, allergens, GMOs and additives. We publish all of these analyses, so you can read them yourself.
The truth about growing cocoa
Cadmium is a metal that occurs naturally in some soils. The cocoa plant draws it up from the ground: even when organically grown, cocoa contains cadmium if the soil does. It's a global challenge for the whole industry, and it's why the European Union sets maximum levels for cocoa sold to consumers.
Most organic cocoa comes from Latin America, where the soils, often volcanic in origin, naturally contain cadmium. Our cocoa comes from the Dominican Republic, an origin known for lower levels than other parts of Latin America. And rather than asking you to take our word for it, we measure and publish the levels in our batches.
Our results: up to 60 times lower than the EU legal limit
The EU legal limit for cocoa powder is 0.6 mg/kg (Regulation (EU) 2023/915). Here is where our flavours stand:

What does that mean over a day?
What really matters is the amount consumed. To give you an idea:
Our latest batch contains 0.26 mg/kg of cadmium. A 6 g cup therefore provides around 1.6 µg of cadmium, about 6% of the tolerable daily intake set by the French food safety agency (Anses) for an adult, the equivalent of around 80 g of bread.
Our Kids flavour contains 0.27 mg/kg of cadmium, i.e. 1.6 µg per 6 g bowl. One bowl represents around 15% of the tolerable daily intake set by the French food safety agency (Anses) for a 30 kg child (around 9 to 10 years old), the equivalent of around 80 g of bread.
Is Bonjour safe?
Bonjour is a food supplement designed for daily consumption, within the recommended amounts. As with any food supplement, a few precautions apply:
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women: Bonjour Adults is not recommended.
- Children: Bonjour Adults is not intended for children. Bonjour Kids is designed for children aged 3 and over, and is not recommended before that age.
- Anticoagulant treatment: both our formulas contain vitamin K2, and Bonjour Adults also contains Cordyceps and Chaga, which may have a slight effect on blood clotting. They are not recommended for people taking anticoagulant treatment of the anti-vitamin K type. If you are on blood-thinning treatment or before any surgery, ask your doctor for advice.
- Caffeine: the Original and Coffee flavours contain 35 mg of caffeine per cup, or 105 mg at the maximum recommended amount of 3 cups. If you are sensitive to it, choose a caffeine-free flavour.
- If you are following a course of medical treatment, ask your doctor for advice.
Do not exceed the recommended daily amount (3 cups for Bonjour Adults, 2 bowls for Bonjour Kids). A food supplement should not replace a varied and balanced diet or a healthy lifestyle. Keep out of the reach of young children.
Surely it costs an arm and a leg?
A bag of Bonjour costs between £24 and £29. Put like that, it's a real budget. Per cup, it's a different story.
